Vegan Ghee

Most of my friends say they can’t go vegan because they can’t give up ghee. This is all those compassionate people who are trying to go vegan. Vegan ghee can be made at home easily, and all ingredients are available in most Indian households. This vegan ghee tastes so heavenly and can be used in all recipes as a replacement for ghee. It goes great with rice, dal, khichdi, parathas, podi-idli and more.

Ingredients:

  1. 2 fresh guava leaves
  2. A pinch of turmeric powder
  3. ½ cup coconut oil
  4. 5-6 curry leaves
  5. Salt to taste

Directions:

  1. Heat the oil. When it starts boiling, turn off the heat.
  2. Crush the guava leaves and curry leaves and add them to the oil.
  3. Add the turmeric powder.
  4. Keep it aside for about an hour for the flavors to infuse.
  5. Strain the oil and it’s ready to use.
